Actually, there are more people who are Moderates (middle) than far left or right, and there are some things Moderates agree on, but the bush administration's decision on the Iraqi War, along with Rush Limburger and his "ilk", have pushed this country into a division by making the statement of, "you are either with us or against us" and the standard "you are not a real American if you are against the Iraqi War". This is where all the division is coming from.
Hopefully, a new president and his administration will come in and bring this country closer together.

Legal immigration, not an invasion from illegals. Secure our borders. Smaller government, fair trade not free trade. Minimum wage for congress, term limits. No more lobbyists or special interest groups. Reform the tax code. Get a grip on the corruption and greed of corporate America. Ethics reform. No more earmarks or pork barrel spending. Pay as you go in government, no more deficit spending. A living wage and health care reform, no more for profit health care.

Speaking solely for myself, I'd be willing to guarantee the cons their gun "rights" for the next 100 years if they'd agree to impeach the grinning fool in the White House. Just seeing that face on TV every day has become the worst kind of torture.

Conservatives and Liberals agreed that Bush's immigration reform plan was bunk. We just hated it for different reasons.
That's all we can really agree on.

Liberals and conservatives can agree on a lot. For example it's not just liberals and democrats who want us out of Iraq. More and more conservatives want that too.

The Constitution should be the basis of our government and not just be "some piece of paper."
Actually... I don't know if a lot of the Democrats and Republicans in office now believe that at all.

'tis far better to be able to debate and even scream at each other than to have to worry about whether we'll be hammered by jackbooted thugs because the government worries about us.
