I put two questions in one.
If people stop demanding them, the people illegaly trying to get them will stop getting them from third world countries. Why can't people just be satisfied with cats and dogs???

Why do people want fur? Its really soft and elegant...i know..
but even if that animal has already been slauthered and you
can't do anything about it now...you CAN prevent other animals from being slauthered if you just simply STOP BUYING THEM.

People,just think about that message.

Because they can. Some cultures don't think of dogs and cats as pets but as food sources. You knew that already but did you know that people who wear furs for show rather than warmth and necessity have been shown to be the same people who value designer labels? You may think your very important message is new but there are many of us who have been fighting to stop the slaughter of animals for design for decades. Please think about joining the International Fund for Animal Welfare at www.ifaw.org
I think you will be a valuable asset in the fight to stop this type of unnecessary cruelty.

You could probably see one in a museum or an authorized private collection, To have even on in your possession or private collection you need to have special permits and it must have been in the family's possession BEFORE the trade of these was banned in the early 20th century. In many countries of the world owning one is completely illegal, no exceptions for anyone, and any and all furs from animals such as lions tigers, leopards, cheetahs and endangered animals will be seized by the proper authorities and turned over to a museum. At this point in time you can not buy a tiger or lion under any circumstance, the trade of even used furs of this kind will land both buyer and seller in jail. Even asking if these can be purchased anywhere is a bad idea, it's almost like asking for a website with instructions for robbing a bank or instructions for counterfeiting.

because most people are just in it for themselves and they live in a materialistic self absorbed world. There is no changing some people and they just will never put one and one together when it comes pairing their accessories to animal suffering.

On another note, a lot of people could be doing more to end the suffering of animals by actually taking a stand against the companies and organizations that PROCESS the furs and sell the livestock for rendering. There are laws that they have to abide by and most do not, so I would say that if someone really wants to do some good, get a copy of the animal protection laws for your state and start finding violations in the plants and factory farms local to your area, turn them into the humane officers and try to get them closed or so closely regulated that they go nuts. I have been doing this with a livestock auction where I live and am close to getting them shut down altogether simply by forcing the officers to enforce the existing laws on this sales stable

ACtually, I just watched a special on National Geographic that showed that like 70% of the furs used now - for those fur collars on jackets and all kinds of fur stuff - comes from DOGS!! Can you believe that? I won't buy fur anything - imitation fur or not. I have one rabbit fur shawl that has been passed down in my family for generations, but I keep it locked up in a box because it creeps me out.
Imagine, people buy these furs because they think it makes them all 'cool' or 'elegant' or something when they are actually wearing dog.

Oh come on. You know that will never happen as long as humans are humans. No matter what anyone here says, nothing's going to change. It's sad, really, but it's just not going to happen. There's always going to be demand for exotic animals and rare fur. People are always going to want more than they have.

I agree 100%. Before we had a need for fur, to survive, but now people don't have any excuse. Even if some people don't really care, I don't mind if they own one or two pieces, it's when they have like their own collection of fur, that pisses me off. Can you imagine how many rabbits you'd have to kill, just to make ONE coat? Now you can buy faux fur, that's just as nice and cheaper.

I don't get it, but some people just have a different mentality than we do, so I'm content knowing that I'm not one of those mean-spirited souls that supports killing innocent creatures.

Fur looks nice, and It would be great to have a fur coat, but I would never buy one because I've watched tigers and exotic animals living, and it is amazing. To take life away from the animals would be horrid.

I don't buy any.... I don't feel a need to... Anyhoo people like to feel powerful and I think a fur does that for people.... It is awful though ... I don't know why people would want exotic unpredictable animals... other than people always want something no one else can have... Sad but true.........

Having an exotic animal is just a sicko status symbol, but God put animals here for our use,not abuse,& there is nothing wrong with fur coats or fur lined boots etc....
My Stars! I would hate to see all the rabbits & rats(chinchillas) running the earth if we didn't use their fur!
