The images are anything between 3 and 5 years old. You can't do anything about that.
My guess is that they are not updating them due to security reasons.

It depends on where you live. Big cities and their suburbs get updated a lot more, thats why you can read the license plate # off a car in LA but you cant even see your house if you live in nebraska or somethin. So big cities about once a year and evrerywhere else: well dont hold your breath

I do not think it does update, because I went to look at my house that was made in 2006 and it was just open land on the map.

it updates every couple years my neighbors got a pool 4 yrs ago and its still not on google earth

it updates at least every 6 or 7 months depending on where you live mostly
