Well, we have two girls who are 14 and 8.
We live in San Jose, CA, so something in the state would be best.
Our budget is pretty small, (about 1,000 dollars or less?)
and we have four days.

Any ideas?

We've been to places like Disneyland, Legoland, Universal Studios, Seaworld, San Diego Zoo, Lake Tahoe, Reno, Vegas, etc.

Mt. Shasta is not a far drive from San Jose and is absolutely beautiful. The days are nice, the nights can be cool. Their are some good places you can stay but if you are interested I would recommend camping.

It is a great outdoors trip with golf, fishing, white water rafting, hiking, even hot air baloons and jet ski rentals.

If your daughters or wife arn't that into the outdoors I would suggest staying at a lodge where their are some nice restaurants, health spas, and local shopping.

The scenery is spectacular, it is a real pleasant escape from the flow of the city, and a great place to spend some time with your family. God bless.

Seaworld and the San Diego Zoo were great! They have a safari there that we want to go the next time we are there! Also, San Diego has some great beaches!

We flew there (2 of us) and went to both parks and i think including hotel and airfare, we made it for about $500.

How about Lake Tahoe- it's only a 4 hour drive and there is tons to do for everyone. Beaches are great, there is hiking and nature walks, can rent bikes or ride horses, casino action and shows for adults (leave kid at the drop-in center at Harrah's), good food- lots of buffets- MS Dixie and Tahoe Queen paddle boats that take you out to Emerald bay.... have fun!
