I love acting, getting up on that stage, with that rush woah man. Except, i dont think I am that good?. No one has ever told me I am horrible or even bad but I never get the lead roles and the only people who comment me are my family and my really good friends. If I am bad, does this mean my acting career is over? Was there any really bad actors? Acting school could help, right?

Some people seem to have a "natural" ease onstage, others have to work harder at it. Loving the craft will definitely help as you persevere. There are most definitely techniques that acting school can teach you. These will be your tried-and-true tools that will help you dissect a character and play the objective even when you are not "feeling" it. A lot of what you are feeling may just be due to nerves, self-consciousness, and inexperience. Keep at it if it is what you enjoy, and you will improve and learn.

A very basic thought to keep from self-consciousness: Always go back to what you need from the other character in the scene.

Acting school/acting lessons will help a lot! Starting out acting is like starting anything else... practice makes perfect. If you think you're getting compliments simply because the people who are giving you critiques are family and therefore don't want to hurt your feelings, talk to a teacher or a friend or someone else who is interested in theatre and make sure they know that you want a 100% honest answer out of them.

Don't be discouraged! Especially if you're just starting out! Your acting career is definitely NOT over. I mean, just look at some of the big names in hollywood, hayden christiansen? I mean come on, this guy has zero talent.

Anyway, I digress! Don't worry! Keep working and you'll see amazing improvements! Good luck!

Why not ask the director to be honest with you and give you some feedback? You can always take lessons, the best actors today say they are always learning and many went to acting classes. I think you are being too hard on yourself. When you just get started with anything you need feedback or you become stagnant and ineffectual...true for all walks in life don't you think? Break a leg!

It is refreshing to have a question from a modest person. Gotta know how much experience you have to answer your question. But if you are bad, tough luck. Classes will not make you better. Experience might help, but actors are born, not made. You need to audition in a new venue, a place where you have different competition from where you have been acting. It you get cast and do not get replaced by the director before the show closes, you may be OK/
