During WW2 the Nazis sent not only jews to the concentration camps but gays, gypsies, the mentally retarded and other groups considered "undesireable". In order to distinguish between grops, the gay prisoners were forced to wear pink triangles like the jews wore gold stars. The pink triangle has become a symbol of gay rights, equality, solidarity and pride.

Some people associate the color pink with gays because it is regarded by our society as a feminine color. Since gays like guys and girls like guys then you make the connection

In the last century, common society regarded pink as an effeminate color and associated it with women and gays. Interesting thought process but otherwise invalid.
Most of the men I work with own a pink dress shirt, or as they call it, a "coral-colored" shirt--as do I. They, as I, are not so boorish to think that we could be gay for wearing it regularly.
The point is this: it's the 21st century now and I believe most of modern society has wisened up a tad to stop associating certain object and colors to sexual orientation, religion, creed and race. The only true determinator of who we are, are our actions and deeds.

There was a study done about the effects of certain colors in human and a conclusion was made that pink calm the nerves. Even if a person tries to be angry or aggressive in the presence of pink, he can't. The heart muscles can’t race fast enough. It’s a tranquilizing color that saps your energy. Even the color-blind are tranquilized by pink rooms.

The color pink is actually a feminine color, and thus associated to girls. Therefore it stands that a man who wears a color that is generally regarded as a woman's color is believed to be "girly", or gay.

I'm sorry Michael but I beg to differ, I used to think that way as well but when you're living in a Western world, PINK is regarded as the new BLACK these days. A lot of men are wearing pink office shirts here in HK but they're not gay. As i've said it used to be like that but not anymore, it would be like, we ladies can wear dark blue without being tagged as lesbians.
