I work at a dairy queen, and i just today found out that i fractured my femur and my doctor doesnt want me to be on my feet, he wants me to lay down and rest for the next week. I am schedualed to work this week and i gave my job the doctors note stating that i cant work for a week.....my job can be angry about stuff like that, and my doctors appointement was durning work today, so i had to leave and i was supposed to come right back after the appointment, but the doctor told me he diodnt want me to go to work, he wanted me to go rest, and my job was really busy today, so they needed me....and now i cant work for a week. And on top of that, before i found all of this out, my girlfriend had to have her toenail removed so she cant walk either, so she ALSO had a doctors note and left work early the night before, so this is a really REALLY big irony and we know it looks weird, but can my job fire me,......if i have a doctors note????

They can't Fire you for a Disabling Injury, Medically Certified.
Just think to Yourself: It's a Minimum Wage Job, They should Calm down, It will Survive for a Week without a Person.

Sounds like you should both Relax a bit....Take in a DVD or something at Home.

If they must hire replacement workers due to your absents, they can terminate you. Most companies will work with you on and injury or illness and missing work, but there is no requirement that they do so. You can be terminated for any reason or no reason at all. Talk to you boss and try to work something out. DO IT NOW... Don't wait hopping for the best.. Good Luck

they are in a position to't hearth you for being pregnant yet they are in a position to return up with yet another clarification why they are removing you. while you're on your ninety day probationary era then you definately could be fired for any reason in any respect... they only won't checklist which you have been fired for being pregnant, yet quite checklist yet another 'criminal' reason. i does no longer point out it till you're out of your first trimester. by then you definately will in all threat be out of your ninety day era. there is not any ought to paintings much less and 'relax' merely considering you're pregnant... you are able to bypass approximately your prevalent existence for the main section, merely no heavy lifting or extra beneficial strenuous activity.

It's not a question of "can they fire me"..? It's more a question of what would/could you do if they did..? Can you afford to take them to court to prove your case..? What do you do for money in the meantime..?

Why not talk to your manager..Explain the situation and try to compromise..Maybe work 1/2 shifts for a few days until you are back to 100%

Otherwise, you might get fired, and then what will you do for money..?

Good Luck

If you live in a state that has "employment at will", or you haven't signed an employment contract, they can fire you at any time and for no reason. Jobs in fast food are a dime a dozen, so you won't be out of work for long anyhow.

Sure the business needs people to work. If you have been a great employee.. They will not fire you... You must keep your employer informed at all times especially when you are suspost to work... And don't show...

No. However, if you fractured your femur, you would be out of commission for a lot longer than a week. Are you sure what you are saying is accurate?

First see if you live in a AT WILL state. If youi do where i bet you do an employeer can let you go for any reason. However.......... they seem angry and if they fire you for this you can file umemployempolyment, plus if they cannot acknowlege that you have a medical condition is it a place you want to work at.

It really depends on the state you live it.
Florida, for an example, has the 'right to work law' which means they can fire you at any time for anything and they need no reason to fire you it can be 'just because'. Ironic huh?

no, this is a valid reason for missing a shift or two at work, it would be illegal for them to fire you over this
