For $550 that's quite a good deal, however, I would ask if the RAM is upgradeable. If so, and you can spare a little money, buy a 1GB stick of RAM. It'll definably be worth it.
For Internet and such it's plenty fine as is, but another GB of RAM would definably help you out.

You shouldn't get a Compaq, especially if it's on eBay. Instead, you should get a Toshiba Satellite M65-S9092.
