May I de'bunk that rumor? These people are Serta'fied testers and would never take advantage of such fringe benefits. Most people are 'prone' to do so. But not these professionals. They are perfect sleepers. Their tempur'pedics what rating they will give the mattress. Sometimes they wake up feeling firm..... other times they wake up in a very Sealy mood. Richard Simmons was a very Sealy mattress tester. He just never let anyone eat food in bed. His motto was, "Fu'ton the bed will sleep on your hips."
So all in all, we can see that mattress testers do not sleep their way to the top. They just have a bed rep because of their cushie jobs.

A common misconception.
Many people think that. However we at Ortho conduct many tests of our product before marketing to the general public. A comfortable sleep is only one of them.
All tests and product evaluations are done by our test auditors. As you know a mattress serves many functions and has to satisfy many requirements. Hence we have developed many real life re-creations in our testing labs.
One example would be the newly wed test. Using professional testers we put our product through a rigorous 3 day evaluation. Our test auditors stand near by and supervise the testing procedure. Quite a plum job actually. I have heard that they draw straws to be able to be an auditor.
Another would be the test to determine if our product will be acceptable for the bladder challenged and/or incontinent buyer. Not a popular one with the test auditors. But it has to be done.
Yet another would be the flammability test. A rather involved on to be sure. Our tester must consume large quantities of alcohol and then pass out with a lit cigarette. Our test auditors like this one particularly due to the large quantities of liquor available for the common use.
These are but a few examples of the extensive research and development that goes into the mattress you proudly take home from one of our stores.
So sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite!
