Well, it's pretty obvious unless you don't own a fridge...
Refrigerators were made to prevent food from spoiling/turning bad by keeping it cool. Food spoils quicker when it is in a warm temperature, also, beverages are often preffered cold and refridgerated. When food is cooled in a fridge, it will not spoil as quick and will stay fresh for longer. This is an alternative to ice boxes, the fridge and freezer almost made the icebox obsolete, but it is still used when going out (like to cool your food and drinks) . Refrigorators use electricity to operate.

My refrigerator is currently keeping carrots for my parakeets, some condiments, milk and butter at like 38 degrees Fahrenheit.

its used to store food or drinks like Juice, Pop, Beer, Milk, Eggs and meany more things like ham or Carrets you won't want serten things to rought or go warm like Milk it will go bad or Ham it will grow moldy
