Viable eggs are almost always buried and hidden. If you can see it, it is probably not going to make it. If the nest is opened, recover it and leave it alone.

If you want to try to incubate it, try this link: http://tortoise.org/general/eggcare.html

Ah. You spotted an exposed turtle egg? That's not safe at all. I'm glad you took it into consideration to care for it. In order for it to hatch, I would suggest making an incubator or buying one at the store. Although a bought one can sometimes be EXTREMELY expensive and can go into the three digit area. Although a decent one can be bought for around thirty or so. FOr a homemade one, I would suggest looking around on the internet for ideas. When the egg hatches, I would buy a small tank and try to identify it so you can properly care for it until adulthood.

I am have heard about people hatching eggs, so you might wantcheck with the vet, and make sure it stays very warm. you can get some books on hatchlings and it should tell you the tempeture. But eggs are hard to take care of unless you are a profesional. But make sure it stays at the right tempeture, or it may not hatch. BUT MAKE SURE YOU TALK TO THE VET!!!
