Can anyone give me a link to something that will teach me how to make an image black and white and leave only a certain part of the image colored?

This option is available in Photoshop.
You will need to make 2 seperate images one in color one in black and white. then choose the portion you want to leave color. then cut and paste the color portion to the black and white. That is one of several ways you can do it.

hey its easy man.

select the part that you want to be colored and press cntrl + shift + I to invert the selection or go to select menu and say inverse selection.. than go to image menu> adjustments > desaturate

thts it u r done

duplicate the layer and then convert it to grayscale and make any contrast adjustments. Then, take out your eraser tool and (while your 2nd layer is selected) go over what you want colored
