That Cone come with instructions it would have told you to saturate the cotton Gause with oil and let it soak in about 24 hours before installing the filter. That is why I have two filter elements for my cold air intake system. I replace the dirty one and slip it into the bag the clean one came out of giving me about one year to get around a warm sunny day to clean let dry 24 hours and oil and let sit 24 hours. Oil on expensive Air Flow Meter is not covered by manufactures warranty. So quickly go out buy a new clean element and oil it! And tomorrow replace the dry cone with the oiled one. Now oil that cone and place it into a large Zip Lock storage bag.

More than likely, it wasn't oiled when you bought it. If the oil that came with it isn't in a spray bottle or spray can, your best bet is to just go and buy a can of K&N Filter Oil at the parts store. It isn't that expensive, and is easy to use. That is what I use on my reusable filters. You don't want to put on so much oil that it is running off of the filter, just apply enough that the filter is moist. That is another plus with the K&N oil, it is red so you can tell if you have applied enough. Hope this helps.

Well, usually you want to spray it on lightly. Not pour it on. Did it come with light-weight oil? You may need a spray pump bottle. I doubt they oiled it beforehand, but you can read the box to find out.

You will understand i mean i understand. but not everyone will....i mean sometimes you really want some air filters other times you are covered in honey and you can do nothing but lick it all off very very slowly...then once your done put it back in jars and save it.....for other times.
