I'd say it is probably a coincidence. It's still under warranty, so I'd play dumb and have it towed to the BMW dealership and tell them it just isn't working. Deny ever putting regular gas in if they ask.

Its a coincidence. You could put whatever gas you want. Premium offers the most performance for your car and usually adds 3-5 horsepower. I have put regular gas in premium cars and premium gas in regular cars before. It shouldn't harm your car in any way.
Check if the battery is working by using the radio and lights.
Change sparkplugs if you havent changed them in the past 2 years.
Check if you have oil or gas in the car.

using a decrease octane gasoline may well be conceivable at greater altitudes in lots of vehicles, besides the undeniable fact that, whether you're like me and stay in Denver or a city of further extreme altitude you nonetheless ought to apply the top classification gasoline. BMW engines are meant to run on approximately ninety 3 octane gasoline at sea point. this might variety a sprint say as much as two factors. At altitude the engine must be run on ninety one octane which continues to be considered top classification at extreme altitude filling stations. the reason it is so volatile to apply a decrease octane gasoline on your BMW is that the BMW's engine applications below extreme compression. Octane is a level of the autoignition resistance of the gasoline or its skill to stand as much as untimely ignition. the better the compression in the engine the extra possibly untimely ignition and subsequently the extra mandatory extreme octane gasoline. untimely ignition is time-venerated as knocking and might very heavily injury your engine. What became in the previous a controlled ignition is now a random, unpredictable explosion. Cylinder tension rises in line with the violent detonation with the aptitude to tear the engine to shreds.
