It shows that he thinks that you are a good worker by giving you more hours, however you should have thanked him but said due to your school schedual you'd rather keep your current hours. I hope you gave them 2 weeks notice. Had you talked to the manager I'm sure he would have worked with you, so I can't say that I necessarily agree with your decision. But you're still young, there will be many jobs in the future.

I did the same thing when I was your age. I tried talking to the manager and explaining things first of course, but when he wouldn't listen, I knew I had to choose school. Work experience is important too though and it gives you the opportunity to get out of your head once and a while so perhaps you can find a job that will better consider your school hours and priorities. If you don't need the money right now, try volunteering in a small job that is related to something you are interested in doing. People always are flexible with volunteers and appreciative and it can provide great expereince and lead to good opportunities!

I think you made the absolutely wrong decision.

Your manager complimented your work and offered you more hours because he thought you were a valuable member of the team.

If the additional hours were too much, you could have said that you were happy with your current work schedule. Unfortunately, on your next job application, you'll have to tell them you quit - and they will call Quizno's and ask what happened.

I don't know, it depends on the person and how much they can tolerate working while still going to school & having homework. But, I have to say, managers pretty much ALWAYS decrease your hours during the school months, and if they don't, then you just have to ask. But if you did & he still didn't decrease them, or he brought your hours up like you said, then yes, I think you made the right decision. You can't put more focus on a job than school! And anyone who thinks so is crazy.

What do you mean when you said "You quite"? You quite what?

Oh, you QUIT???

No.

School is more important. You can work at Quiznos the rest of your life, but you can only get your high school education once--in theory. Anyway, you won't have to work in a sub shop, assuming you make the best of said education!

Besides, you're not supposed to work over so many hours until you're over 18.

I think you know you made the right decision and your looking for reassurance. Do whatever makes you feel best. Your still way to young to worry about things so seriously. You will have plenty of time ahead of you for that...
