A good friend of mine is determined to name her daughter Fifi ... I've been unable to talk her out of it so I've decided to take an alternate root. I'm trying to find Full Names for Fifi, so that the poor child only has to deal with her mother calling her that.
So far she's shot down:

Sophie/Sofie
Sophia/Sofia
Fiona
Fianna
any suggestions? I, and the unborn child, thank you for any help you can give!

I really like Josephine and Sophia/Sophie. Those are really pretty. I'm actually named after someone who goes by Fifi, but her name is really Andrea, so that's no real help.

Maybe she just likes a double sounding name but I think a few others are way better than Fifi. But before I tell you what they are, tell her that Fifi is also slang for someone who is not quite with it or is odd in some way. Hasn't she heard people ever using that name in a phrase like, "She's such a fifi!" And whatever else fifi may mean, it is also used to refer to someone who acts like a phoney. It's not a very positive name for anyone to have. Tell her this and maybe she'll reconsider. The other names I think are better would be:
DeeDee
JoJo
Lulu
KiKi - now this one is cool! Let her know about this name!
Someone with that name sounds upbeat and smart!
