I was researching dog food for my puppy and came across a site that claims how they tortured the animals in their research. Has anyone else seen it?

Hi there,

I do not have dogs, but I have read a lot about Iams cat food and seeing as we are talking about the same company here, I thought I would answer.

People say that they are skeptical about what PETA reports... but why is that so? What do PETA have to gain from lying about the situation?

The way I see it is that this cannot be made up. There is video proof. How on EARTH could video proof be made up? It's right there in front of us - you can actually SEE what is happening.

Perhaps it is not true, but as I don't know for sure and there is so much information about it, I have decided to boycott Iams. Luckily my cats have gone off their food anyway.

The Iams Cruelty website suggests a few quality foods that are definitely not tested on animals, one of which is Burns, which I plan to buy for my cats. They also make dog food:

I have searched for animal cruelty information regarding other companies, such as Purina, but have not found anywhere near as much information - which makes me believe that there surely must be some truth in PETA's claims.

Apparently, the owners of Iams - Proctor & Gamble - are notorious for testing animals for their other products, including Ariel, Daz, Fairy, Max Factor, Olay, Pantene Pro-V, Herbal Essences, and Head and Shoulders. It seems strange to me that a company originally specialising in washign powders and cosmetics would wish to buy out a company that produces pet food.... this leads me to think that of course the only reason they wish to produce pet food is for financial gain.

If you have not already viewed the following websites, you may wish to do so for more information:

Perhaps we can never know for sure, but there are other quality pet foods on the market, so I would rather buy those in case the allegations are true.

xx Emmie

I've seen the videos pushed by PETA, but I'm highly skeptical of anything PETA publishes.

My greater concern is that Iams isn't that great a food for either dogs or cats. It probably won't kill them, but there's much better stuff you could feed.

http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/ That website has been very helpful to me. Check it out and maybe it'll help you pick a better food for your animals.

i somehow ended up getting signed up to peta all though not doing it myself. and i have seen teh videos they push. as for whetehr they are genuine or not i do not know. they may be, but at the same time, if iams was guitly of all the things they say then surly they would have been pulled up long before now with the length of time thye have been opeerating.

same with their KFCruelty thing they did, i am very sceptical about it al,

but anyway, either way, iams is a bad food for your dog, as i believe is ANY commercial dog food, i recommend you get "pet food secrets" that will give you a lot of natural recipes to give your dog. natural has to be better, imo

Yes we have all seen it THOUSANDS of times. If you believe PETA, then do not buy Iams. I have been feeding it for years and continue to do so. PETA sucks.

I think if I ams has been known to "cause illnesses in animals" it would be off the market. Another dose of propaganda.
