at back to school i always ask to spend around a thousand dollars total. my friend gemma only gets to spend two hundred and she said it was spoiled of me to even expect that much from my parents. but we always spend that much anyways, and really, its all relative. i dont think a thousand dollars for clothes that are to last into the winter (and if it still fits ill wear it next year) is a lot to spend. What do you think?

Yes, yes you are spoiled, but it IS all relative. If you have the money, spend it!

no offense, but i think you are spoiled. my family is wealthy, and i don't spend that much for back 2 school clothes. i usually spend around $200 or $300.
but, you have to look at WHERE you are buying from. if you are buying from, say, the adult section at bloomingdales, or, if youre buying from neimans or saks, i get it. but i dont know how old you are...anyway im 12 here is my opinion...
next time you buy, think "do i really need this? how often will i wear it? what can i match with it?" make sure that you actually LIKE and will WEAR the item becfor you buy it!!!!! i think $1000 is a LOT to spend on clothes (for a 12-year old that buys kids, not adult clothes), and if you're still growing, it's a total waste, because you'll grow out of the clothes anyway. find some clothes that you can match with a lot of things. what i do, is that i try to think of 3 or more oppurtunities to wear the item of clothing before i buy. and mixing and matching doesnt mean you can only have like 10articles of clothes. just buy some cute things that you know you will wear a lot, and that match with a lot.
and this is just all advice, im not trying to be mean or bossy or anything.

You're right in that it is all relative, if your family is rich you're probably used to being spoiled like that anyhow. Two hundred may be alot for Gemma's family to spend on clothes for back-to-school, and she may also need to wear them into the next year. That is probably where her comment came from.

No I don't think so. Actually you could spend it anyway you want. It's good security to have in case you need it.
