All schools are a business. Without students and tuition they simply will go away. It's just that UoP (and their like) are more open about it.
That said, the general reputation of UoP isn't so great right now. They're probably a fine college but the perception isn't so great.
Since you're asking this question (questioning the reputation of your choice), that's an indicator that you may want to make another choice.
You don't tell us where you are or what you want to study. That makes offering options a touch difficult.
So, I'd surf over to the state universities in your state and see what the offer online/distance learning. You may well be surprised what's in your own backyard.
Regardless of what the naysayers tell you; DL is the way education is being delivered now and in the future. It's the way things are going to be and most major state universities and even a few Ivy schools are in on it. Your choices include Harvard, UMass, Boston U, U Fla, Fla State, UCLA, U Md., Berklee Music, etc... some of the finest colleges in the USA/World. hmmmmmm must be a good idea, eh?

on the grasp's point, MANY classic 4-year universities grant on line ranges. I stay in Arizona, and at ASU, they provide electric powered engineering grasp's ranges, MBAs, and so on. The degree won't state which you acquire it on line.. it will be an analogous applicable degree exceeded to somebody who attended training on campus. seem at your close by universities, considering which you're able to get a decreased training value for citizens. i in my view could prefer to attend a usual college, through fact assorted employers are choosy with reference to the faculty. DeVry as an occasion is a regionally permitted college, and is likewise ABET permitted, and yet engineering companies do no longer know graduates as engineers. i do no longer understand in case you're able to run into an analogous issue as an educator, yet i understand that if a software began up on your abode state, credit will possibly no longer actual pass from UofP, so which you would be caught with their software.

Since they do have some accreditations, they wouldn't be that bad. From my experience, I would say it would be if you are doing a really practical field of studying like nursing, business,...
If you wanting to go into a field that is more academic based or requires a well rounded/demanding education, then I would say you are wasting your time and to go to an actual college.
You are getting more than a degree when you go to college. If you do it online, then you won't be exposed to and interact with different cultures as you would going to a traditional college.

My son-in-law graduated from there with a BA in nursing and went on to the U of IN to become a Nurse Practioner. He says it is an excellent online program and that they offer you all the help you need. Hope that helps.

The "university' of Phoenix offers degrees/diplomas that are next to worthless as far as academic standing is concerned. Ask any HR person in any company and they will tell you that as soon as they see "University of Phoenix" on an application/CV ... it goes straight to the bottom of the pile.
