i dont think its gone down the toilet, but some of the things lately i dont like. for instance, what they are doing with daniel! he is so sweet and then they make him get addicted to porn and now hes divorcing lily. and i hated amber on there. i also hate how they are making kevin like jana again, i think him and they old colleen should've been together, but thats another thing i dont like, them changin colleen. and (haha im sorry, i just have a lot of complaints about the storyline lately), i hate how they made nick forget everything in the past two years.....

You are not the only one. Many of the responses you are getting are the exception to what I have seen.

This sums it up best for me: I used to enjoy watching the characters. They had personalities, distinctive and unique. They were written so that one could have empathy for them.

Now, storylines are the main thrust, and it doesn't matter which characters get thrown at the stories. Characters have flattened and are increasing in number, with more deaths on the soap in the past year than in all other years of its airing, combined.

That's right, even though some of the old vets are dying off, along with some of the newer characters and some we don't even know, the show's number of actors is on the increase. It feels like we're being thrown around.

I used to be a loyal viewer, but am, no more. There is a movement on to boycott Y and R during the week of August 20-25 and watch General Hospital instead, or at least DON'T TiVo Y&R and DO TiVO GH even if you don't watch GH. Details on this can be found on the message board of Say Whatever.

I do agree that other soaps don't measure up; however, the distance between "really bad soaps" and Y and R keeps narrowing as Y and R loses its grip. Its national HH ratings have slipped below 4.0 recently and this has profound meaning.

It has gone down the toilet since LML took over as HBIC "Head B**ch in Charge". Her a** is grass and she's on the hot seat right now. Rumor has it that the actors as well as the big hunchos over at CBS are not pleased with her actions. One of the big people over there made her bring back Ted Shackelford since she got rid of him for no reason. She's cutting staff left & right behind the scenes and is messing up the characters history. I don't think she ever watched the show or did a background investigation prior to working there. Bill Bell's legacy has been totally changed.

The story lines of the Young and the Restless and every show like it have been down the toilet for years

It's gotten to be a bit ridiculous over the past year or so. I mean REALLY ridiculous. I guess that's why I like it though. I like to laugh at the ignorance.

Still...I see previews for other soaps and they look even worse...so I just hope Y&R doesn't get to that level of cheese or I won't be able to stand it.

I've noticed several fan petitions about changes/ and storylines made at Y&R
the biggest backlash from fans is the decision to get rid of the actress who played Colleen, rumor is because she gained weight they let her go
what a bunch of a**wipes

no i still Y&R but lately the storylines have been focused more on the younger generations and older veterans to the show are becoming uninterested.
