The General Strike is a national call to action, from citizens to other citizens. It is not about a single issue. It is not an anti-war protest, a civil rights protest, an election fraud protest. It is not about torture, surveillance, corporate media, the 9/11 coverup, or the environment. This strike is about all these issues and more.

As suggested on the site, I am thinking of not going shopping on the strike day.

However, I am confused as to which General Strike I should look out for:

There is the 9/11 General Strike which you have mentioned:

And - there is the 21/11 General Strike which Chomsky and people are trying to get together:

Which is likely to be more fun? and if I had to give up shopping for a day, I notice that the 9th is a Tuesday, but the 21st is a Friday. My pay goes into the bank on a Thursday, so I am going to have to think about this one.

I understand that only one of these events is for people who want an alternative explanation for the events of 9/11, while the other one is for people who aren't too bothered about that aspect. Could you tell me which is which?

Glad to see you are all so well organised.

I hadn't heard about the General Strike, but now that I've heard from you what it's all about, I think I'll take a pass. It sounds as if it's animated by a series of spasms of inarticulate emotion and anger. It just doesn't move me.

It sounds like the kind of mass disruption that Lenin, Stalin, and Trotsky used during the years prior to the abdication of the Tsar. I'll be surprised and dismayed if the organizers are successful in putting together a large mass of people to carry it out.

I checked out the website. It sounds pretty much like those who spout all the talking points to the kool-aid drinkers.

Flyers, all printed intimidatingly screaming red and black, with screaming headlines of unsubstantiated "facts". Some of us choose not to believe it's so simply becaused someone says it is so.

Sorry. I'm going to make sure I buy something that day.

Nut cases are always quick to do things that hurt this country. Any strike could only do more harm than good. Sore losers always blame others for their not giving enough support to their so called causes. Tuck luck to all of them. I definitely would only laugh at the losers that try a strike. Who loses pay not the government workers, they are usually salaried. Strikes do not solve things only cause unnecessary lost wages for those that least afford it.

No. I don't think many of the victims of 9/11 would, either.

Of all the days to pick from! What poor taste!

In short, no. I think my decision correctly reflects my stance on these issues.

No, I am a firm believer that all strikes, no matter who is doing them is illegal.
