Where I live, there are hundreds of houses in all stages of construction. Behind us, curbs, streets and street lights have been finished for months but no houses started. The stock market is in the pits...will somebody tell Bush that the economy is taking a serious hit?

The builders can sell for about 50% and not take a loss, they can write off any investments losses, justlike everyone else, so don't worry about them.

Those houses will be sold, it will just take some time. We had a bunch of people buying houses who had no business in them in the first place. They are now loosing those homes and the market is restabalizing to the days when you bought what you could afford to pay for.

Right now the investers are snatching up the foreclosures, but they will move in on the new homes next. They are not as desirable as they are harder to rent.

Pick up a copy of Sky & Telescope and use the finder charts. Saturn is obvious in Leo, right next to Regulus. I was looking at it the other night. You can't see Saturn's rings in binoculars. Saturn is non-stellar in my 7x50s, and looks oval in my 20x80s, but you can't resolve the rings. The pictures on the box have nothing to do with what you will actually see in the telescope. An ETX-80 isn't a very big telescope. Do not expect miracles. Addendum: I know that light pollution is a problem, so why don't you go on a trip to somewhere dark, even if only once, to see what the sky is supposed to look like? Even in a light-polluted city, you should be able to identify two or three candidates in the eastern sky in the evening and decide, with your telescope, which one is Saturn. Or even with binoculars, since Saturn has a very distinctive yellow colour, quite unlike Regulus, the only other bright object in that part of the sky until Arcturus and Spica rise. As always, hooking up with local astronomers is a very good thing to do. When do you plan to do this? There is only so much a forum like this can do. Sometimes you need to get off the computer and do things for yourself. Addendum 2: Chill. Saturn is there, and will be there for some time to come. The beauty of the Sky & Telescope charts is that they show the stars as they appear *now*. Which is what you need. If you've been at it for this long you're doing something fundamentally wrong, and need to rethink your strategy.

The builders, are offering incentives to the buyers. And the builders can also lower the housing prices. They are making a high overhead on the pricing anyway. There are buyers out there and they will eventually get sold. They will just wait on the houses that haven't been built yet, and start back up when the market gets better. They will take a tax loss.
Bush doesn't care he will be out of office soon, he will just leave the problem for the next guy. But lets hope we are not in a recession by then.

Eventually Future Home owners "Consumers" they are just gunna sit empty for a while. Till someone quits worrying about everything else that is not part of the "REAL PICTURE" of there personal life goal and just buys the home that they want. Then it will sell and if it the project is not attracted to the masses probably convert it to rentals for a while.

All the Properties in Foreclosure? I can help them out along with the buyers of those NEW EMPTY COMPLETED HOMES.

There is always opportunities and you always have to make adjustments in your life. ya want it then get busy and make the PLAN.....

BTW....Bush or any other President has no control over the economy he might be able to "ASSIST" in the taxation department which eventually will trickle to the economy BUT you need to look at others to help remove the panic currently in the market and help make the adjustments.

The idea of building all those houses now seems rather strange but the builders are offering incentives to the Buyers which wouldn't normally be offered. That said I don't think the incentives are really going to help much. Those incentives are only pools (not everyone wants one, appliances (whether stainless steel or otherwise), and possibly upgrades of flooring. Does that mean that the builders are going to offer these new homes at lower prices, of course not! Unless you are a Realtor who works with said builder. That is a whole different story altogether.

I also live in So. Cal. and I was just talking about it with my husband. I think it's funny that they are still building homes for high prices, when anybody can go buy a repo for a lot less. It doesn't make sense.
