all of the carreras and targas have the same engine 325 hp for the regular ones and 355 hp for the ''s'' so y would someone pay more money for a carrera 4s than a carrera s or more for a 911 ''s'' than a carrara 4s?

Carrera: Rear Wheel Drive, 3.6L Engine
Carrera 4: All Wheel Drive, 3.6L Engine
Carrera S: Rear Wheel Drive, 3.8L Engine
Carrera 4S: All Wheel Drive, 3.8L Engine

The Carrera 4 and 4S cost more due to the AWD. Someone would pay more for this because they want AWD.

Sorry, but there's more to it between the four cars besides engine/power and 2wd vs 4wd. Do your research somewhere else than here, as the info is never that good for these types of questions.
If you're spending that kind of coin, look for differences in standard equip between "S" and "non-S" models such as:
Xenon lights
dual dual exhaust
19" wheels
Red brakes
PASM
Etc.

Also, decide if you want the wide-body of the 4 or not. That is a very big deal to some. Both 997 and 997S are 71.2 inches wide. The 997/4, 997/4S, 997/Targa, and 997/Targa S are all 72.9 inches wide.

Targa sound like a good idea, and the current one is probably the best so far... 4WD sounds good too...

However, the one that everybody wants is the Carrera S. RWD, extra power. More fun than the 4WD and cheaper than it and the Targa.

Resale is better too. Useful before your Porsche needs new tyres, or the next major service.
