you can find a good used acoustic guitar for about $100-$150 you can find some cheaper ones for beginers, l bought a late 70's Fender acoustic with a plug in for an electic amp for $180, an electric guitar may cost a little more you might find a good beginers guitar pretty cheap. but you can get a fairly nice guitar for about $199 an amp might cost any where between $75 -$400 depending on how big an amp you want.

Acoustic guitars start from around $150 (£75) to around $400 for a begginers/casual player, my advice for you would be to go to your local music store and try some out, then when you get the right one, note the name and see if you can see it online, if you dont like to buy online then buy it from the store, remember to take into account how comfortable the guitar feels and plays.

Hope that helps

look into Fender Squire packs. They have all you need to get you started- guitar, amp, tuner, strings, etc. its the best quality stuff you can get for a cheap price. They have both acoustic and electric packs. They should have them at your local guitar shop, if not, Guitar Center always carries them.
