It is axiomatic that someone must hold the unofficial title of Best Player Not In The Hall. Right now that belongs to Ron Santo, who is well overdue to move to the other side of the velvet rope, but behind him in the non-pitchers line are, in order, Gil Hodges and then Oliva.
I think Hodges will hold the title quite well once Santo gets his due, and Oliva gets to be vice-TBPNITH.
So... No. Oliva was very, very good, but the Hall expects true greatness.
Yeah, there's Rose, and soon Palmeiro, but they get their own "stupid and got caught" table.

I don't think so. Andre Dawson has much better numbers.
