Grocery prices go up for many reasons. Usually it has to do with cost of delivery/transport or crop shortages. Cost of grain affects many things. Milk prices rose because of the cost of grain to feed cows. Anything made with milk and/or grain also increased. As for illegals working on farms, you have a point. Higher salaries will transfer to the consumer.
Subscribe by email to your local grocery store circulars so you can see a few days ahead what's on sale and where. Clip your coupons and use them. It may be inconvenient for some to shop at more than one store, but if you can save money, it may be worth travelling another mile to get it.

We would pay a buck an ear for corn. That would seem like piracy.
Of course prices would go up. Florida oranges on sale for $1.25 each during the season. Off season double it. California strawberries might be $10 for a small basket. A flat could cost as much as $75. And on and on and on. Think about it. You think your grocery bill is high now just wait.

The prices are where they are at right now, because that is what the market will allow, do you think big business says, well we are paying our workers low, so lets lower the prices of food? The companies that move their manufacturing jobs overseas say, now we can keep the prices low for the American people? Don't make me laugh, prices are what the market will allow. They're going to charge as much as they can get away with, no matter what!!

My buddies and kinfolk are unlawful and that they have not slacked down on their spending extremely, they nonetheless ought to stay yet, some have stopped going to places for relaxing as lots. I do agree that the government needs to make people who're no longer doing different issues to get into hardship and are paying taxes a raffle to be right here legally and confident the financial gadget will flow up, it went down quickly while the immigration began all the deportations

No it won't! do you see the “illegal” in your question? There is a migrant worker program in place for the purpose of farm workers which is the right and legal way, it needs to be used and improved if it lacks not. It will cause the invention of new harvesters and maintenance machines. Even farmers have admitted the migrant and day workers are unreliable.
They should make those on welfare work the farms, a work for food program.

"Do you think grocery prices will go up soon because of the crackdown on illegal immigration?"
I hope so... I'd be willing to pay more to know that the people picking my food were paying the same taxes I am. Were abiding by the same laws I “must”...

No--because this "crackdown" is simply smoke and mirrors--mostly to appease the right-wing. But there are 12 million illegals in this country, thanks to GOP policies. No more thana few thousand will be deported. But the neocons have no intention of really cracking down. If they wanted to--they controlled Congress for 12 years while thismess grew worse. They did nothing--and blocked a conservative proposal by Bush to reform immigration.
Their actions (or lack thereof) speak louder than their anti-hispanic rhetoric.

I think what is more likely is we will start seeing more foreign-grown imports in our grocery stores because companies will transfer their operations to countries with cheaper labor. I don't think the prices will change too much.

food prices will sky-rocket because we are using FOOD to fuel libs suv's. a full 20% of our corn production is used to make ethanol that is sold in less then 1000 stations in the world. in the meantime farmers must pay more to feed their chickens, cows and pigs and the consumer pays the cost.
Ethanol. another silly lib idea that doesn't work.
