I think the above is an example of "angst."
PS. My dictionary simply lists "anxiety" as "angst," so that's pretty easy, if that's all there is to it. Which I somehow doubt!

An intense feeling of internal emotional pain & indecision.
You might have angst over which ice cream flavor to buy if you're also on a diet and shouldn't be eating ice cream anyway.
You might have angst about what to do with your life if you can't make a decision, and your future depends on it, and everyone you care about is waiting to see what you're going to do.
Angst would describe what some guilt-ridden person would feel upon finding themselves in love with two people at the same time.
In Woody Allen's movies, he frequently plays a character whose life is scarred by angst in every imaginable circumstance.
