ok well, i come from a very religious family. it's hard to talk to them about certain things. i can't talk to my mom about it because...well she's my mom. my sister lives in another country and it's hard to get in contact with her most of the time. and i can't tell my sister in laws anything because it goes directly to my older brothers whom, might i add are EXTREMELY overprotective of me. my obsession....BOYS. i've read duas and hadiths, verses from the quran, and also tried to seek help from my friends but nothing seems to be working. what do i do? it's the same thing everytime but just with a different guy...it starts with a physical attraction which grows into a crush that slowly develops into an obsession. and i can go DAYS...MONTHS...just thinking about him and i feel trapped in my thoughts of him most of the time. what do i do?

well, it is human nature to like people of the opposite sex, you just have to know how to control yourself as a muslim...i'm sure some of your friends feel the same way, crushes are fine as long as you don't act on them, because that would be disrespectful as a muslim girl to your religion and your family....just hang in there, you are probably still young and your hormones are crazy.

You're obsessing about that which you are restricted from having. We want what we can not have much more than what is right before us. You have to accept that at this point in your life, you are under the protection and guidance of your family. Until you are able to date and socialize with boys, you will simply have to occupy your time with more productive thoughts. There really isn't anything that can be done, you can argue with your family but they will not allow you to do as you please. Concentrate on your studies, exercise, and prepare for being able to take care of yourself. Perhaps you could join some clubs at school and be able to socialize under the supervision of those at school, join a sports team, it won't be the same as dating, but it will help you develop your social skills, and that is important for later when/if dating and marriage comes. Learn what you can and take care of yourself.

Talk to your mom.
The things which are denied to us often become an obsession because they represent the unknown and the forbidden. If you cannot be around boys in a situation like dating, can you think about ways to participate in traditional family activities with men and boys?

SWEETIE IT IS NOT HARAAM IT'S NOT LIKE YOU ACTUALLY SLEPT WITH THE PERSON OR ANYTHING.JEEZ.TRUST ME I KNOW WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT,BECAUSE I AM A OLDER MUSLIM FEMALE THAT IS REALLY RELIGIOUS (NOW I DON'T MEAN VEIL OR HIJAB KIND OF THING),BUT I ALSO COME FROM A VERY RELIGIOUS PERSON.IT'S CALLED HORMONES AND WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE ATTRACTED TO MEMBERS OF THE OPPOSITE SEX!I MEAN WHAT DO THEY EXPECT US TO DO?TURN INTO LESBIANS?WHICH IS ALSO HARAAM.HOMOSEXUALITY IS DEFINITELY HARAAM.ANYWAY PLEASE EMAIL ME FOR FURTHER QUESTIONS.AND BE CAREFUL ABOUT YOUR BROTHERS.THOSE HONOR KILLINGS AND FORCED ARRANGED MARRIAGES.IT TEARS ME UP INSIDE TO THINK ABOUT WHAT HAPENNED TO MY COUSIN.SHE FELL IN LOVE WITH A PAKISTANI MUSLIM,BUT THEN SHE WAS FORCED INTO AN ARRANGED MARRIAGE.
-INSHALLAH MAY ALLAH SHOW YOU THE WAY AND MASHALLAH.ALLAH BLESS.
