I have helped many strangers and would not hesitate to do that again.

Not too many people would walk on by. I would help a stranger in trouble, but it really depends on where it is, and when it is. If I weren't endangering my family, if there was something I could do, I would do everything I could.

I think I would help like this. I would:

* Always call for help before doing anything else, (call 911, or call attention to the situation.

* When I called 911, I would tell the police where I was, and what I was planning to do to help the victim. (I don't want to get shot by the police or have neighbors think I just ran someone over and get shot by the neighbors).

* Assess the situation, the assets I have available to me, the other people I have around me, what kind of help I can be to other people who are helping. Check to see if there's a portable defribulator, if there's shelter, if there are people willing to help.

* Make sure I CAN help the person without endangering both of our lives, or the lives of others around. (If person were trapped in a car with a high power line across the hood, I would wait for the pros to help.

* Make sure that my help is really wanted by the person. If I could talk to that person, I would make sure that they want help. (If they're on the edge of a building, I would make sure I'm not going to go with them 17 storeys below.)

* Find out what is wrong before I helped. If you move a person who has a broken bone, you could do serious damage by moving them.

* Talk to the victim. If they're coherent, I would tell them what I'm doing to help. Cover them if it's cold. Reassure them.

* Make sure I have the kind of expertise needed to help. If I did CPR, for example, I know to raise the chin up by putting my hands underneath the neck (unless they have a severe neck injury). This position forces air into the lungs and not the stomach.

* If there are already people on the scene, I would ask them if they needed any help. I would alert them to my expertise, or experience in this kind of situation.

* If I helped, I would try to remember things, or write stuff down if I could.

* If I were a witness to a crime, I would note the time, the car color, the description. If I saw anything that would be helpful, I would write it down.

* If that person is dying, I wouldn't get stressed. Dying is a natural part of life. I would just hold their hand and listen to them. Make them as comfort as possible.

I think I would help if I could.

To be honest, it would depend on the stranger and the trouble. If they are drowning, I'll get someone, but I say no sense in 2 people dying.

I have but lately I have been very cautious since I have read so many news articles or watched the night news of how innocent people are ambushed or mugged by these people pretending to need help. Some people do need help but others are pretending to need help so that they can harm you. Always be cautious and look for suspicious activity before approaching a person asking for help or for the time.

if this person was in some kind of health problem or like an injury i would stop and help (but i also have a basic knowldege in medical work) but it all really depends on the situation, where it takes place, and what kind of other are people around. but if there is ever the slightest hint of anything suspicious, run to the nearest phone and call for help.

i hate these kind of questions because mostly everyone would say that they would help or it depended on what they needed help with. truth is that most people who say they would help only say that because they know that is the right thing to do but in reality if someone did need help when they walked down the street they probably would mind their own buisness and keep walking. but there are some people, SOME that would acctually stop and help.

Depends on how in trouble they are. If their car is getting jacked, I'd call the cops for them. If they dropped their newspaper on the ground with their arms full, i'd walk on by. If they slipped on ice, i'd keep walking or if their dog ran off it's leash i wouldn't stop.

If they were having a heart attack or bleeding to death, i'd stop and see what I could do.

I can't answer that in a vacuum. It would depend on the circumstances as I perceived them at the time, including my perception of the stranger's demeanor. It could go either way.

I have to admit, i would base the answer on how they looked. I mean, if it were a mother with a child that needed help, i totally would. If it were a creepy looking guy or girl, I wouldnt. Even if they were in big trouble.

Depends on the situation because I don't want to be sued for helping someone.

I know this happens because I had to serve jury duty. Ever since I did my duty, I really don't want to help strangers because I don't want to be sued.
