Hotcake and flapjack are just different terms for pancakes in North America but a flapjack isn't pancakes in the UK and Australia, it is a type of biscuit made from oats. Im from the UK and I've never heard of the term hotcake.

Hey, you excluded crepes... they are basically the same thing too, just a little thiner and flatter... you simply make the batter very thin!

I think they all taste much the same, made the same, etc....
If it looks like a pancake, smells like a hotcake, tastes like a flapjack, then I don't know what to call it!!!

A pancake by anyother name is not the same??

Just a different way to confuse those with feeble minds!

They are the same thing. It's just a regional thing...like 'flapjacks' is used more by people from the Eastern part of the US. 'Hotcakes', southern, and 'pancakes', Midwestern.

I think hotcakes are smaller than pancakes. And flapjacks aren't as fluffy as pancakes or hotcakes... or maybe we're all just crazy!

a flapjack is thinner than a pancake from what I understand. Don't know the difference between a hot cake.

No pan cakes are cooked in a pan, Flapjakes are thrown into the air, & hotcakes are what McDonalds serve for breakfast.
