I'm due early September and we are having a girl. My husband and I can't agree on a name that we both really like. My list of names includes:
Kaylie
Rylie
Lydia
Eva
Natalie
Sadie

And my husband likes more traditional names, his list includes:
Amy
Sarah
Mary

Does anyone have any suggestions that could be both not overly common and not so traditional, yet encompass both?

We are going to use the family middle name Marie.
Thanks for your suggestions.

I love my name. It's traditional but not too common, classic but not old fashioned ... and it works well with "Marie" as a middle name. ;)

I am SOOOO sick of hearing people name their daughter Kaylie, Kaylee, or Kayleigh. I honestly am at a loss to its appeal.

How about Autumn, since she's going to be born in Sept.? Autumn Marie is nice. Or, I knew a little girl years ago named Starling. Starling Marie. Never heard it since.

You definitely don't want Mary Marie.

Sarah Marie's not bad. I don't like Amy. Nor Natalie. Sadie? Yuck. Eva Marie? Sounds too much like Ave Maria. :)

Out of your list, I like Rylie the best, I guess. Not that pretty, though. I don't know. I think we just have different tastes. I tend to favor more traditional names over trendy ones, though. Trendy names get locked into an era and then never used again. (Ex: "Linda", "Barbara", "Jennifer," "Pamela," and.... for the year 2007... Kaylie!)

I like the names Nora and Liana, personally. just a couple suggestions.

But from your lists, I like Rylie or Amy. Mary is too plain and Sarah is too common. Lydia and Sadie remind me of older women. Eva reminds me of hispanic women (which is fine, but i'm caucasian so i don't think my kids could pull it off...). I had a dog named Kaylie once... so i couldn't ever name my own daughter that. Lovely name though. Natalie is a good name, but I don't like it as much as the other two i mentioned.

Congrats and best of luck to you! No matter what you name your child it will be beautiful (unless it's something like Poppy Honey or Pilot Inspektor or Peaches Honeyblossom... then I'd suggest some serious therapy or to cut back on the drugs).

I think Lydia is really cute, honestly i don't hear that name very often at all. Only one little girl maybe 3 years ago at the day care i volunteer at has had the name Lydia, it is such a pretty name.

Lydia Marie would work beautifully, that name is my favorite..
If you want to please your husband Amy Marie would be the best choice for a more traditional name.

all of the names you chose are very beautiful, good luck with your baby girl!

Sarah Natalie
Lydia Mary
Lily-Rose Mae
Sadie Mae
Amy Rylie

My husband and I did not agree on a name until he saw Hayley. Hayley Elizabeth was the name we pick out last then three weeks before the due date.
Hayley is way to common today. I was at the town pool yesterday, and there were six Hayley, one teenage, my Seven year old and the rest was under five.
I like Cassandra (Cassie), Julianna, Elisa, Elizabeth (many nicknames), Victoria (Tori)

Rylie Marie sounds very good together... I recommend getting a current name book from a book store such as The Ultimate Baby Names Book by Diane Stafford. There are many wonderful lists in there and a glossary of names, their origins and meanings that would be very useful for you.

Congrats!

Well, first off tell your husband the baby will NOT be named Mary Marie!!!!
A couple of your names are fairly traditional:
Eva Marie*
Natalie Marie
Sadie Marie is very similar to Sarah Marie.

I know it's hard to pick a name. Good luck.

Those are all my traditional with a trendy twist that I could come up with in two minutes. Hope that it helps and good luck with the new baby!

I like both your names and your hubbies.
Since you can't agree I'm going to suggest a couple other ones.
Jennifer Marie
Stephanie Marie
I don't hear those names very often anymore.
Looking at both of your lists Natalie is both a traditional name and not that common.

All of the names listed are very nice, but I would definitely stay away from Sarah. Almost all of my friends are named Sarah, and I'm not joking! :P

Buy my favorites are definitely Natalie and Sadie if you're going to use Marie as the middle name. I also like Kaylie, but I would probably spell it as Cailea instead. Just my thoughts!

If you're looking for other suggestions, I really like:
Gabrielle Marie
Evelynn Marie
Delia Marie
Sophia/Sophie Marie.

Hope that helps!
