oh you picked a very unique idea!! Well you could have normal food like potato chips, just put it in egyptian or ancient looking bowls. If you don't have any you can paint plastic bowls. You know what would be a cool party idea for this? Hang up a huge sheet of paper and let people do ancient drawings on it for decoration

the ancient egyptians ate whole grain breads, fruit, figs, and drank beer. these are't really appropriate for a sweet sixteen party, so i would suggest middle-eastern foods, like kabobs, falafel with humus, an olive tray, fruit and melon tray, as well as more traditional dishes, like chips and cake. you only turn sixteen once, so i'd just pick a couple of middle-eastern dishes that i really liked, and just go with my other favorites. i also found some glass scarab beads online somewhere, so you could sprinkle those over the table. i would use an off-white or sand colored table cloth, since they wore mostly linen. as far as colors, use jewel-tones and gold. for the beverage, i'd go with a fruity type punch (no beer for you). if you have any stuffed toy camels, use them. if not, buy a few and give them out as party favors to your closest friends. i don't know what your budget is, but if you had the extra cash, i'd spring for some ankh charms (you can buy them in cheaper metals than silver), sprinkle those around, and people can take those home as souvenirs, with some leather or cord to use as a necklace. you can buy black cotton cord fairly inexpensively online, probably at the same place where you get your ankhs and scarab beads. enjoy!

I love planning parties but this one kinda stumped me.
Invitations could be decorated as ancient artifacts on the back then the info on the other side...Decorations could be pyramids, camels...As far as food and drink I don't really know what to tell you...I picture Cleopatra erlazing eating grapes so maybe fresh fruit? Have a great sweet 16!

Historical Egyptian culture is truely fasinating but complex. Be prepared to spend some dough or your celebration or it will look very campy. They used a lot of gold and expensive stone. They worshipped strange gods and goddess some with animal heads. Try renting "The Ten Commandments" with Charlton Heston. That should give you some ideas.
