then why is Dick Cheney's daughter, Ronald Reagan's son, Alan Keyes daughter, Newt Gingrich's sister, and Terry Randal's (anti-abortion activit) adopted daughter... all gay?

You'd think with all those "family values" they would have nothing but straight children.

azred,

The environment you grew up in does indeed effect the personal choices somebody makes. You'd think with all those conservative family values, these people would have turned out straight.

They did not.

This is just another way of proving homosexuality and heterosexuality are NOT choices.

harry,

Scientific studies show that if one twin is gay, so is the other. This is true even if the twins were seperated at birth.

If homosexuality is a genetic trait, why has it not been rendered extinct due to evolution?

Homosexuality does nothing to ensure the preservation of the species, which is, after all, Darwin's Theory.

Over the billions of years species evolve, would not homosexuality dwindle from the gene pool, since they are less likely to reproduce?

There are thousands who are living proof homosexuals can change their sexual desires to heterosexual.

Dr. Robert L. Spitzer- the renowned gay activist pyschiatrist who in 1973 successsfully managed to have homosexuality removed from the American Psychiatric Association's list of mental disorders- has published results of his new study which show homosexual orientation can be changed to heterosexual.

Dr. Spitzer's findings which were published in the "Archives of Sexual Behavior", show how 2000 homosexuals (143 males and 57 females) responded to therapy, changed their desires and maintained their new lifestyle for a minimum of five years (the length of time of the study).

Dr. Spitzer only accepted for reparative therapy those who had had predominantly homosexual desires for many years. The majority of those who participated in the therapy reported a change of orientation. But they aren't the only ones.

In 2004, testimonials from 850 former homosexuals appeared as full page advertisements in "USA Today" and the "New York Times". The 850 wrote that they had turned their backs on their prior homosexual lifestyles and were now living as heterosexuals.

Edit...Wow, Elway the cat...I did read that site...it was full (or not full) or repressed information and completely one-sided. Try again.

I'm a male lesbian - by choice. I wouldn't want it any other way.

If I was a politician I'd probably tone it down a bit and state that I've seen dogs of the same sex humping each other, and cows (cows are females and bulls are male) humping each other, but if that's what trips their trigger by all means let them have at it.

Anyone who believes being gay is a choice is either in deliberate denial, has never known any real gay people, or is just simply as smart as a box of rocks.

EDIT: Dr. Spitzer? LMAO. That guy and his methods and his claims has been put down and thoroughly denounced by anyone reputable in his profession. The man is a joke and has been for a looonnnnggg time.

To Common Sense

yep, some homosexuals live openly as heterosexuals. Then, in the dark of night, privacy of seedy motels, rest stop toilets etc.. indulge in their real desires.

Much like most republican politicians and evangalists.

Homosexuality is NOT a choice. I know personally as a gay man that it's not a choice. Hell, I knew when I was three that I was gay.

Conservatives just want people to think that it's a choice so they can continue to block gay marriage, but it's not. People are born gay. It's determined genetically, quite like race, sex, eye color, etc.

But I like your point. It goes to prove that it isn't a choice.

A lot of children go astray. It's all about rebellion against their family's values. Saying that people are born homosexual is merely a cop out to avoid responsibility for personal choices. Convenient, but not true.

Because personal choice has nothing to do with your upbringing or who happens to be in your family.

edit:

If homosexuality is genetically induced, and it occurs in only a minority of the population, then technically it would be an aberrant mutation. ?!
Were I gay, I would *never* say "homosexuality is genetically caused"...but you may "thumbs-down" me if you choose to do so.
