first i wish people who didn't have children born aboard would answer this type of question because you don't know the answer. Okay here goes you have to write to Department of Vital Statistic in Washington DC, that will get you started it cost about 30 dollars,at least that was in 1981 i would go to their website then there is someplace else in dc you have to write to get you certificate for Citizen Born Aboard then yet another. Or ask you mom if she made a certified copy when she came stateside while buying a house, if she did that will save lots of time then all you have to do is go back to that court house and get the certified copy otherwise Washington is the only place. That's why my sons is under lock and key,

What was wrong with the information? I would have asked them. He is who you think he is, right? (just kidding). The only people allowed to obtain a birth certificate copy is the person listed (if over 18) or one of the biological parents listed on the birth certificate. At least that's how it is in your state. Let me know which state it is and I can try to research their rules for you.

Go with your boyfriend to the county clerks office where he was born. Have him take his drivers license & any other forms of ID he might have. They should be able to look up his birth certificate with a correct name & birth date.

See if the county in which he was born has a web site. You may be able to request a duplicate birth certificate online.

Have your boyfriend call up the county clerk and ask them exactly what they need. It would be better if he could go in person (don't know if that's possible) because they won't give certain information over the phone and you can't get it because it's confidential and you don't have power of attorney over him.

Depends on the state in which you are living, but shouldn't have to wait at all. Just have him go down with the correct information and get a copy, or ask his mommy for it.

Your boyfriend needs to get HIMSELF down to the county courthouse and straighten this out. If the county courthouse is too far to travel then HE should be able to handle it through the mail. HE will need to show proof of HIS identity. Only HE can take care of this or HIS MOTHER could take care of it , or HIS FATHER could take care of it. YOU can not obtain HIS birth certificate for HIM.
