I'm trying to get the best milage I can out of an s-10 blazer 4x4 with a 4.3 v-6. I'm changing the fuel filter and air filter and it runs fine, but will bosch platinum plugs help with my milage at all? I'ts not missing at all, but seems to run much better on higher octane as it has gotten up in miles.

And I do know there are vehicles out there that will run better, but as a sportsman, I need the 4X4, so don't lecture me about a rice-burner getting better milage.

I own a shop, and a "94" Blazer with a 4.3 V-6 in it. I have used about every plug on the market in it, and I can't for the life of me come up with one that works any better than the AC plugs that come in it. These plugs are good for 75,000 - 100,000 miles is what the owners manual states. The manufacture does a world of research & development on their engines, and installs a high quality sparkplug in the engine, so trying make that better is not going to be easy to do. All plug manufactures "claim" their product is better, but all of them can't be better than what comes in it. I have found that BP, or Amoco high grade fuel does best in mine. It cost more, but it will almost get twice the mileage of the lower grade fuel. Also; I have found if I use a bottle of STP (black bottle "only") injector cleaner in the tank (at about 3/4 of a tank) a couple times a month, it does really well. I know it has a throttle body injection on it, but they are still injectors, and if they stick in the open position any at all, they get poor mileage. I can only tell you what mine does, and maybe this will somehow benefit you too.
Glad to help out, Good Luck!!!

no. platinum plugs are only for loger wear, and that is questionable. I have a 93 S-10 2wd with 4.3 that I have Bosch Platinums in and have an 89 S-15 Jimmy 4x4 with 4.3 that I have regular AC Delco plugs. Both are getting comperable mileage.

Well you have 3 things against you: 1. Heavy SUV, 2. V6 engine and 3. Four wheel drive. I have tried those plugs and got a little better mileage using them. You might want to try a cold air intake, high flow cat and a free flowing exhaust. Try putting a few extra pounds of pressure in your tires, drive the speed limit, don't accelerate too hard and try to take as much weight off the vehicle as you can and your mileage will change a bit. This is a few suggestions that I have had some results with. Hope I have helped.

Plugs just do the sparking--won't do anything more than any new plugs will do--properly gapped. NEW air filter will help..oil changed?? Good!! What the issue is concerns the gear ratio--and that cannot be changed.

Not really. There are all kinds of claims made by different manufacturers out there, but like synthetic oil, the tiny difference does not justify the expense.
