The world is still compassionate, but that isn't news. The media only reports the exceptions, not the general trends. But honesty and a family life are replacing greed and ambition. Also, there is a move back to spirituality and religion... just go ask the local clergy.
So, turn off the TV and go out and talk to real people. You might be pleasantly surprised at how wrong the media is...

I don't think the World has ever really BEEN "compassionate". We're only becoming aware of that Reality NOW- because we now have "instant media" to show us what the World is really like. Compassion is a bit like a "Savings Account"... -If nobody puts any IN, there's nothing to get BACK. And if you know anything about people's "habits", buying & spending- is a LOT more common- than Saving. Can YOU "afford" to be Compassionate??! I hope so. I wish a LOT more people- could. The World would be a MUCH happier place- if Compassion were higher on their list of ways to "become."

No, I don't agree. I don't see selfishness or greed around me. And I have tons of good will, faith, and honesty to give out. So I guess it depends on how you personally look at it.

I think it's definitely still compassionate. Just look at all the people helping each other on yahoo answers.
There's Greed and selfishness too but then everyone's a little self absorbed, it's only natural.
But I think good will etc, etc are still going strong.

That's nothing new...most people are selfish and greedy. That is why people with good will and honesty are special and rare. The good people always is small in number but they make a different because they have the power of righteousness...

I wish I could disagree. All this arrogance (or hubris, if you will) is an automatic path to self destruction. I don't think it will end till we burn the wheels off. Most of my life I've persevered, thinking that surely intelligence (enlightened self interest) and compassion would prevail in the end. No more.
