Put them in work release! They work in the day and are escorted back to jail at night when they get off work. The money is sent to the children. They get to be REAL parents and contribute to the lives of their offspring! Everybody wins! There should be weekends spent in supervised visits from the children who would benefit by visiting the deadbeat parent! Parenting classes and wholesome activities during off time!

I think that many of the dead beat parents could be redeemed if some new method of responsibility was given out. Many become divorced today because of poverty. Here you have someone who is struggling already with making a living and then tell them they need to pay $500/Month, plus see to it that health insurance is paid, along with half the day care and I will show you a dead beat/parent.
On the other hand parents need to provide for their children.

Make them stand on the street corner with a "Deadbeat Parent" cardboard banner.

And make them do some of the less appealing jobs to pay what they owe. It would benefit the community and the family.

Yes, because if people doesn't the money to pay child support, then the only thing to do is to humiliate them. That's gonna help. Humiliation is a human rights violation, haven't we done enought to these people. You guys are awful.

That asker is a sick person indeed!

Get other figures involved. Reach out to the parent's friends, relatives, community (maybe not so good idea on neigbhors, but depends), etc.

Maybe it's time to move in with grandparents or relatives, until times are better.

Put up a big sign in the front yard, or take out a full page ad in the local paper.

Humiliation doesn't always work either. I really wish people would learn to be smarter and more compassionate rather than cause further anguish. Why add more fuel to the fire when it's better to educate and send to rehab if need be?
