what is the point of three years of advanced ,intense training if all they do is get killed. book 5 kingsley shacklebot , tonks, and mad-eye moody are well respected aurors but are out duelled by bellatrix. but she is killed by molly weasley. dolohov has beat aurors but is killed by the little charms teacher. the order of the pheonix could not beat the death eaters dumbledore took all twelve of them except bellatrix. the ministry tried to send aurors to protect harry and he laughed, he was better protected with hermione granger. in book 7 she took down two death eaters. at the battle of hogwarts the death eaters were beaten by professors, parents, and students NO Aurors. averege joes along with powerful wizards saved the day in the series so i ask you what is the training for and why do they need aurors what do you all think.

that's a really good question. I think that since the death eaters use dark magic and the aurors are supposed to use other kinds of magic to distroy them it's gonna be hard. and also I think that aurors are told to do certain things, they are taught to act in a special way, I mean, by the rules. whereas the others act instinctively, they don't use specific rules to defend themselves, like hermoine or Mrs. Weasly and ... .
and anyway, it's been really dificult for me too, but at the end it comes to this: we have to accept that this is just a book, in which the heros will always be praised more than other charecters, that's why the spells always miss them by milimeters. It kills me to think that it's just a book, but sometimes we have to accept it.

And how many death eaters did we not see defeated off "screen" by Shacklebolt and Tonks in the Battle for Hogwarts? Using Dumbledore as an example in the Ministry of Magic battle is a rather poor example for two reasons, first he was a highly skilled wizard when he defeated Grindelwald in 1945. Second, when he defeated Grindelwald he'd taken the Elder wand from him and continued to use it ashis wand until the day he died. The most powerful wand in exsistence, greatly increases the spells of any witch or wizard to whom it has given it's alliegance. No one can repir a wand and make it work properly ever again if it should be broken. And yet the Elder Wand gives Harry to repair his own holly and phoenix feather wand. What do you think it would allow a master dueler like Dumbledore do against such overwhelming odds?

The whole point of aurors is to capture dark witches or wizards. Not all of them will be top notch, and even those that are can still be defeated no matter how skilled they are. Again look at Dumbledore, highly skilledand yet Malfoy defeated him before he really had a chance to fight back the night he died. As skilled as one is, there's always going to be an element of luck in the outcome.

Aurors are like our S.W.A.T. team or the Navy Seals - that's what I picked up from it, anyway.

They carry the big guns (wands) and when trouble is afoot, they get sent in. They are highly skilled at fighting and defending themselves. They are willing to put their lives on the line if it means defending someone who may not be able to defend themselves.

They don't just 'get killed'. They go out there with the chance that they could die. They are fighting very advanced magic and they know it. Which is why only the elite become aurors.

Like someone said, it's like the SWAT team or Navy.
Aurors have done other training and probably have rescued some other people in the past.
kingsley shacklebolt, for example protects the muggle prime minister
dawlish was working for fudge and he and kingsley in book 5 were brought down by dumbledore. (of course dumbledore was too powerful for them)
But thats a really good question.

Well in the battle at Hogwarts everyone had Harry's protection. Like the one Lily gave him. He sacrificed himself for everyone at the castle so they couldn't get hurt.
