Well, I see what you're saying, but it is a slippery slope... I cringe a bit when I see celebrity endorsements of any candidate. However, they have a voice too... it's just up to us to determine how much volume (credence) we give to it. On the other hand, there are many celebrities who, because of their celebrity, have given voice and recognition to issues that otherwise might not have gotten the attention they deserved... Audrey Hepburn UNICEF, Elizabeth Taylor and many others (HIV/AIDS), Danny Thomas and others (St. Jude's Hospital), Betty White (animal rights, spay/neuter), Robert Redford (Sundance and environmental issues), George Clooney and others (Darfur) just to name a few off the top of my head.
I suppose the bottom line is that I will make up my own mind on the issues and choose the candidate that I feel is best for the job, hopefully others will do the same. If I must be exposed to 'celebrity news' though, I'd much rather hear about somebody doing something, even if I disagree with it, than to be bombarded with 'news' about do-nothings (i.e., Paris, Nicole, Lindsey... self-centered, mindless bunch).

Depends on the preson. I would give more stock to an endorsement from Bono than one from the Evanescence girl.
I do think it is sad when I see someone whose work I've admired endorse the Republicans. I see it as a deep character flaw.

Lamplighter, I will stoop to your level for this one, I seem to recall some in the terrorist leadership in the middle east endorsing democrats in the last election, or have you forgotten that. Have you also forgotten that the oldest Senator is a dem that was a high up in the KKK?

I would doubt it, for the most of them anyway.
Its like the Republicans... who really cared that Tom Selleck or Arnold Schwartzennger (before he was governor) or Ted Nugent endorsed Republican candidates and would actually campaign for them. Seriously, do most people care?
Both parties do this... both parties court entertainers that like their party. Big deal.

I think they revel in it because it is so chic! Just think, what an endorsement from "one square" Crowe means to someone's political future. And, then we have the Scientology boys (Travolta and Cruise) as poster boys for the Dems. What a deal!!

They love the free advertisement because they know there are plenty of fickle people that vote for someone because their favorite actor/actress is voting for that person.
