If you can shift into gears with the engine not running and you can't with the engine running then it might be your pressure plate/clutch disc/or throw out bearing. If you can't shift into gears at all times then it can be: shift linkage or internal transmission damage.

Actually, you need to DISengage the clutch to change gears.
The cause of the clutch not disengaging is likely a leak in the hydraulic fluid used to operate the clutch, or a broken mechanical linkage in the same system.
Alternatively, there could be problem with the transmission gears, and it's entirely unrelated to the clutch.

Depending on what type of clutch system you have it could be the clutch master or slave cylinder. Some slave cylinders are externally mounted an the trans, but many are inside the trans. It is usually a good idea to replace both the master and slave at the same time, and if it's an internal slave, replace the clutch assembly and throw-out bearing and resurface/replace the flywheel then, also.

The clutch disk must have been worn out already or chipped. you go to bring down the transmission and change the clutch disk. Another is the gear box. Maybe it needs replacement.

I think you mean disengaged. The problem could be a broken clutch cable if it is mechanical, or a problem with hydraulic system, either on the master or slave cylinder. Air in the system or low fluid will do it too.
