Political Correctness, is Neither Political nor Correct.
If the "Spokesperson" is Male why can't we call him a "Spokesman" and if she is Female a "Spokeswoman"?
I think on the most part using a "Politically Correct" term is insulting towards the person the term is referring to.
Now let's get to Race related Politically Correct terms for people, and I will demonstrate their inaccuracy and how they can be deemed derogatory.
Take "African-American" for some reason this term is used to describe anyone with dark skin, even if they cannot trace their ancestry to Africa. Wouldn't lumping all people of color into the same "Category" be insulting?
Any - American is inaccurate because to be an "Irish-American" would mean you are a Citizen of BOTH Ireland AND The United States of America, But this is not how the term is used when some one is called an "Italian-American" what they are being referred to as is an American Of Italian Decent.
Well, if that's what you mean then say it!
Political correctness defies logic, good sense, and the rules of English.
Political correctness is another tool to encourage discrimination.

I am not a "political "... I am a "human being" (as a human being, I am not infallible. But God gave me a conscience that steers me when I get close to "Incorrect") ... I am also an individual ... I do not follow the herd/flock... I do not care what is considered "politically correct".... besides who has the authority to decide what is and what is not "politically correct"? ... Was someone Divinely appointed by God to decide those issues for us?! Or does the "reigning" party get to decide for us? I would never knowingly hurt another by voicing my opinion in their presence unless they asked me what I think,(I'd tell them any opinion I had was not meant to offend .)..nor will I let the fear of "maybe" hurting someone decide my opinion for me.I have no desire to run for political office; therefore , I do not have to be"politically correct"... I will not allow a "Political" to force me to be ashamed of any of my opinions...They are, after all, MY opinions! Do we no
longer live in a free society where the flow of ideas and opinions are allowed? My political affilation is not an issue here . I am a citizen of the USA ... I am a Patriotic American! I vote in every election for the PERSON that I feel is the best choice for the job... the Political Party does not come into consideration.
If you want to discuss "Political Ethics", I have an opinion on that topic also.

Of course as a democrat you're for it. Political Correctness is the tactic of choice for the dems. It prevents anyone from sensibly talking about issues. Illegal immigration? Don't worry, they're only undocumented workers, and you're a bigot if you think otherwise. Fanatical muslim extreemists? No worries. They are really freedom fighters, and you're a racist is you think otherwise.
Now for the "n" word. Perfectly acceptable for a small percentage of the population, in fact it's woven into their music and culture. If a citizen of another demographic uses it though, Sweet Jesus, let the healing begin! So the other groups are left with saying "the N word", which for some odd reason is perfectly acceptable.

I don't think it was the left wing that pulled the plug on Don Imus. It was corporate America. Political correctness is just like hate crimes. We do not need either one and both are just reverse discrimination to white people. And I am a Democrat.

Political correctness is usually defined by a sub group that wants to overcome a prejudice, stigma or popular opinion of the masses relative to that sub-group. I find it ironic that the United ***** College Fund finds "*****" as offensive and not PC, the National Association for the advancement of Colored People finds "Colored" as offensive and not PC, The American Indians of Texas finds "Indian" as offensive and not PC. I also find it strange that "African-American" is considered PC in the United States, although none of the blacks that I have met personally, have ever been to Africa. Personally I think that PC is a waste of time. We put so much emphasis on how we talk that no one really pays attention to what we say. In our care "not to offend" we stifle progress and constructive action.

I think it is a term thought up by racists, homophobes, and chauvinists. They know that they are politically wrong and use the term to denigrate people who treat others with dignity. BTW nobody wants to censor the non-politically correct. Treating people with dignity is appropriate behavior. The opposite is not only rude but bad for business. Nobody is passing any laws against ignorance.

I don't agree with it. I think we have started walking on egg shells every where we go. I think it is hindering our right to freedom of speech. I don't believe people should be rude to others, but should be able to say what they want whether any body else agrees or not. Peoples opinions have become offensive and therefore cannot be spoken out loud. I think people have started using this as a way to control others and make themselves heard without opposition. I say let it go and speak your mind as long as you do it respectfully.

Political correctness is nothing less than an infringement to everyone 1st Amendment right to free speech. It's that simple. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say that you have a right to not be offended.
It' doesn't surprise me that Liberals would consciously try to eliminate the free speech rights of anyone they don't agree with. "Liberal tolerance" is the ultimate oxymoron.
Liberals don't want personal liberty because they cannot handle personal responsibility.

I think it is worthless and ridiculous. It has its place in political debates as far as respect is concerned, but as far as changing our society it is a ridiculous concept. People should just be honest and say what they want.

It totally depends upon the situation. Technically, I should not call the president a dumb***, but he is. He also does not care what the people think, so I can call him whatever I want.
If "little people" do not want to be called "midgets," then we must respect that.
I just thought two examples might help clarify my opinion.
I think it is blown out of proportion, but we should still be courteous.
