I find that if you don't live in a big and/or vibrant city, there is often little do to in the evenings anyway.
I mean, you could go out and get p!ssed. Or you could waste some money on a boring game of bowling. Or perhaps go to the cinema, which is in fact quite anti-social even if you are with your mates.
Plus, if you go out quite a lot when you are younger, it does get pretty goddamn boring going to the same places year on end and all you have to show for it the next day is a lighter wallet, an aching head and perhaps a pile of vomit.
I mean, I started going to over 18 clubs in the UK since I was 16. When I got to uni, some kids hadn't even been to a club before. By the time I hit my early 20s, I was pretty goddamn bored of going out and getting rat assed.
At 23, my health is more important, so I don't really drink very much. I still go out, but not as often. This is because where I am currently living (Milton Keynes) is about the worst place in the world to go out for a night out.
Ripped off for drinks - I have gone to clubs on Kings Road in CHELSEA which have charged me LESS than what some clubs in MK charge for the same drinks.
They charge a fortune just to get into some clubs, despite the DJ being an complete unknown and having the disk jokeying abilities of someones uncle.
And to make it worse, most of the blokes just want a fight and most of the women are either: chav's, slags, fat or all three. Rarely are there any people I would want to spend any time around and any women I would want to "pull".
Hence why I'm not out tonight and why I don't really care!
Once I move away - hopefully soon - to a better place, then I am sure my social life will pick up. The more there is to do in your local area and the better places to go, the more you are going to be going out.
....... Unless you have a partner or are married.

13 years ago when I was 18 the Internet was a dream in the making. My social life has gone down hill a bit in the last year but I blame that on moving to a town where I don't have any friends. However, when my friends come to visit we sure make up for the Friday and Saturday nights spent on the PC.
Edit* I am nearly 33 Miss Principle's..lol and feel older :(

When I was 18 I would stay up all night on a Friday.... I'm 37 now, did the same thing last Friday (out of the blue) and a week later, I am still recovering. Slowly.

When I was 18, there was no internet, no one had cell phones, and most people didn't have computers. I had a purple mohawk and was at the club watching the latest punk band - famous or local. It was a blast! Now I sit home and play on the computer while drinking Margaritas. When I was 18, I didn't know what I'd be doing by now, but not this!

I was married and eagerly waiting for my first child to be born. I was madly in love and wanted to start my own family as soon as possible, so got pregnant 2 months after the wedding!!! 23 years later, I'm married to a different man with 2 more children, so no, my life definitely didn't turn out how I hoped.

When I was 18, my parents gave me a slide rule to take to college. How many of you even know what a slide rule is (or was)? Do you know when they became obsolete? I think around 1970....
In college I took a course on computer programming. We learned how to translate a simple equation into machine code. The college didn't have its own computer (which would take up a whole building) but rented time on one to run our little programs...
I might have expected to spend my free time in the university library; but the internet is so much more cool.

Steph, when i was 18, smiley faces, were the latest acid, to hit the streets, at 25 There was a band who kicked big yellow balls into the crowd from the stage. I think fate is working it's course.
