I only packed one duffel bag for my hospital stay, and it was way too much stuff. The hospital provides you with everything. The only thing that you should have is a going home outfit for you and the baby, personal care items for yourself, like make up, a hair brush, and don't forget body wash or shampoo and conditioner. But that's all you'll really need. You might want to bring something to do, but the baby and tv should keep you occupied. Good luck and congrats

I would bring an outfit to go home in. remember you will be quite swollen still. The maternity pants I wore to the hospital didn't fit when I left due to the amount of fluids and the swelling I had from a pitocin assisted delivery. Toothbrush and toothpaste. If you have sensitive skin then bring your own shampoo, soap etc since the stuff at the hospital isn't always something you can use. The one thing for the baby you'd think they'd have and didn't at my local hospital was wipes! They had a heavy duty paper towel that they told me to wet down that was just as good. Other then that they will dress the baby and have diapers available until you go home. Also bring with you sanitary napkins...The ones they had at the hospital for me had one little itty bitty strip of sticky and didn't stay put.

The other person is right. I packed a huge bag and didn't use one thing in it. Go ahead and pack an outfit for you and your baby and leave room in the bag to take home all the stuff the hospital gives you. The medal bassinet your baby is in is filled with stuff and you can take it all. Feel free to ask the nurses for extra stuff, like diapers, wipes, etc. I did, and went home with tons of stuff. They like helping you.

You can let the baby stay in the little hospital t-shirts that they will but it in and then just bring an outfit for you and him but I brought only one outfit and he spit up all over it so I had to have someone bring me something else. I think maybe one outfit for you and if you don't like hospital gowns then a gown for you and a couple of outfits for the baby. Congrats.

I had everything I needed for me and baby in 1 bag with plenty of room left over.
I find the huge list of stuff "recommended" to pack for the hospital back ridiculous and most of it is not needed.
