The Indians have good hitting and pitching, but lack the following:
fortitude
gumption
grit
heart
bravado
guts
moxie
chutzpah
je ne sais pas
panache
I know my answer really makes no sense, but I like the words you used and wanted to add to the list.

Not only do they have the fortitude, they have the skill and desire. ok, maybe along with guts, i just defined fortitude, but they are trying to run away with a division that they havent won in several years. Sweeping the spankees would be the ultimate confidence builder in the eyes of that young roster. even if they dont sweep... 2 wins or even only 1 win, but keeping close in all 3 games would really prove to everyone, including themselves...
this is hard for me to say because i am a HUGE orioles fan and the indians ate at us for several years in the '90s, but unfortunately its true.
Pronk is going to spank the yanks.

No because if you look at the yankees record against the AL central this year they have been dominating those teams so your chances of seeing a sweep is a million to 1

no, yanks will probably take the series 2 to 1 if not a sweep. Hughes is a good pitcher and I predict great things from him in the future (remember he began a no hitter to the 7th until his injury took him out). Everyone has a bad outing once and a while. Yanks are too hot to get swept and the indians are hardly considered great the way the are playing now.

Not with the way the Yankees are hitting the ball right now. Except for one game in Toronto they have been killing everybody's pitching.
Oh, and for Trent, the Royals didn't sweep the Yankees last month - I wish they did but no. KC is 1-6 against the Yankees this year.

Cleveland is going to take two out of three. Ya, the Yankee bats are hot, but hot against who? Terrible pitching that is who and when they finally went against a quality pitcher in Halliday they did crap. Indians take two out of three and the yanks only win the game Pettite pitches and that is only if the Yanks have another 8 run game. Gooo Trot!

If Hughes wins tonight the Yankees chances of sweeping are very good.

i hope not even though i hate the yankees as much as you do i would like to see them beat the indians and see the tigers get on a big winning streak and build a huge lead in the AL central and win it all

Indians blow. They'll be long out of the race once the Tigers get their injuries taken care of. Indians are a flash in the pan, like any team out of Ohio. One year wonders.
