I have a 99 Grad Am and it is becoming ridiculous how many times I have had to repair my ABS sensor. Since I purchased the car in 2000 I have had to put new sensors in my car 6-7 times. It is a yearly event; recently the ABS/Trac Off lights came on and they were fixed 8 months ago in January 2007. Also, after it gets fixed it is normally in the shop again 1-2 times within a week because it was not fixed. I have been to many different places for the repair. The repair is not cheep; it is between 250-300 dollars. Is there something else wrong with my car then just ABS sensor and why does it happen so often and how long is the sensor under warranty since I replaced it less than 8 months ago.

Take the car back to the last people who have done the job. Tell them the story, and explain that they replaced the sensor 8 months ago, and you have had to replace 6 or 7 sensors. The shop may give you a break on the fix. That does sound excessive, unless someone is driving the car through a bunch of puddles or creeks all the time.

If the shop replaces the sensor and it works, then you may have them trace the wiring back and see if the insulation has been scraped off at some point. You didn't mention if it is always the same wheel that is giving you the problem, I assume that it is. good luck with the repair.

The repair shop should warranty their work, especially if it's improper installation. I have seen many new techs and a few seasoned ones grab the impact wrench to tighten the axle nut. The tolerances of the bearings and ABS sensors are minimal and simply will not stand up to this abuse. Have them install a new bearing and tighten the axle nut with a hand ratchet and torque wrench only! Most shops will not allow you to watch the operation from in the shop, but if you walk outside the door and keep an eye on them, you might see them using the impact wrench.

After the 2 failure, I would be checking for a wiring problem, excitor ring problem or ABS module problem. especial if the same sensor kept failing.

you have 4 wheel speed sensors, 1 for each wheel.

it is possible for each sensor to fail at such intervals, but if 1 or 2 sensors repeatedly fail, they are fixing the symtom not the problem.

Ya, it shocked me too how rapidly human beings chanced on companions to stroll with for commencement. First step, you gotta get somebody for his cousin. attempt to hit him with the question an analogous day you placed somebody as much as ask his cousin. ensure you tell him how gay it is to stroll down grad isle with a dude additionally. you would be ok, purely benefit up a lil nerve and ask him, stable success! :)
