I am speaking of the work place. As an accountant, do you have a lot of deadlines. Is the work very independent. Is there a lot of office politics involved. Longest answer will get the best answer points. Do accountants enjoy a fairly secure employment status. How is it like to work for the BIG 4 firms? ANY Comments relating to being an accountant would help! Thank you for your comments

I am a retired auditor, formerly with the Wisconsin Department of Revenue. We audited small and medium size businesses, for income, and sales tax. We also did an occasional estate and gift tax return. It was great! Each audit began as a mystery about to unravel. It was necessary to have an audit plan, we usually worked singly. Many small businesses had no internal control, and we saw many fraud situations.

Well, only my mom, sister (eight years old) and I live here, so it's pretty quiet in my apartment. Usually, we wake up at 6:30 on week days, and we go to work/school. Then, when we get home, my sister plays outside, I study/ play on the computer, and my mom talks on the phone and does house chores (ones that my sister and I can't do.) On weekends, we like to catch a movie or sometimes just relax.

Numbers, numbers, numbers...they never end. I've never been an accountant...although I've pretended to be one.
