I don't think that people are any more, or any less, sensitive than any time before in history. I think that several factors just make it SEEM as if they are.

In my opinion, some of these contributing factors are;
- The availability of more and more forums from which the 'Offensive' and the 'Offended' can voice their opinion.
- The evolution of some societies to a point where fundamental needs are being met whether they lift a finger or not and so inner angst can then be redirected towards other, slightly more frivolous issues (eg) the pursuit of happiness.

Honestly speaking, I think that we should accept whatever consequences transpire when we say or do something that might be even a teensie weensie bit mean or offensive. Just because we would not be offended by it does not mean that it isn't hurtful. Just because I am a sh*t doesn't mean that anybody should suffer the stench.

No, quite the opposite, people are not sensitive enough.
As for people expressing offense, THAT is more about making an issue about something that could have easily been let go IF they were more sensitive and in touch with others.

Sometimes some people just need something to be upset about, something to mask the real things that make them upset. Sometimes it's just preference. Like with any other preference, there's a large variety of choices, and there are many people who make each. Surround yourself with people who appreciate who you are and the things you appreciate.

No but I find most other people are self centered and ignorant and pass awful unthinking comments. They are thoughtless and then when they hurt other peoples feelings they are like "you're too sensitive" but don't apologize or think about what they said.
