You must have multiple log in accounts ?

If so just go to the first one thatwas made (the main one) that will have these rights....
because in any case you will need to use an administrator account to allow other accounts these rights....

Good Luck !

When you bought the laptop you should have been invited to enter an administrator password on first boot up (if the laptop was brand new) as well as setting up the personal account to use on a daily basis. You should have made a note of this password for just this occasion.

If the laptop is just new to you and not brand spanking new then you will either have to ask the previous owner or save your data and re-install the operating system.

Since you've never used the Administrator account before, the password is blank so all you have to do is to find the setup.exe file and right click. Click on "Run As" tab then the next window should have Administrator in the username box, then hit enter. P.S. You should create an account with Administrative privileges.

Hi, it seems that her account is a normal user and not an administrator on the machine. Try to login as administartor, in the windows welcome page, press Alt+Ctrl+Delete and in the username field type administrator and the leave the password blank, if that works, then you can use the ISP CD within that account, insert the CD and continue the wizard. to make your sister account as administrator, you should be logged in as administrator as well, go to my computer --> right click properties --> manage --> local users & groups --> users --> and select your sister's account and right click properties --> member of --> add --> and write down administrators. log off from the administrator account and then log in using here account.

I assume you're talking about Windows Vista?
Someone i know has the same problem, and the process is a lot more complicated than simply creating a new user account.

This is just one of the many flaws in Windows Vista. Contact Microsoft, They'll know what to do.

If you are talking about Windows XP, however. I can help:

Tell her to go into the control panel and click on user accounts. she then needs to set up a user account that makes her an administrator.

you go to the start button and click your name on the top user accounts will show up and you go to pick a task. and it will probably say limited account. if there is another name on her laptop that's where you can change her name to administrator rights. if you don't get this then I'm sorry.
