I like to think so.

It is never acceptable for either a man or a woman to commit adultery. Before a person wants to cheat then they should get divorced.

Oh god, I HOPE it's not more acceptable for the wife to commit adultery.
In the past, men were put in an unfair light when it came to affairs and adultery. If a man had an affair - he was an unfaithful dog ... to be scorned and hated by his community. If a woman had an affair ... then she was driven to it by an abusive / unloving husband.
It's not QUITE that way anymore ... but there are still remnants of that old way of thinking still floating around in society.

As far as I know, it's acceptable for neither. But each gender thinks it's ok for their gender. Plus, universally, there's the thought that men are men and will do things to only satisfy carnal desires. So they are largely let off the hook in many parts of the world. Not in the states or other developed countries though. But in general, i think most expect men to commit adultery, but understand if a woman does. Most think men usually stray and women hardly ever do. So, I think in general, it might be ok for a woman to sleep around, but not a man. Just my opinion on society.

Even if you are not a joined couple through the power of God, then you must look at marrage as a contract. Breaking a contract is not acceptable in anyones book. One must grow up and file for divorce and be granted a divorce before seeing someone new to be accepted socially or professionally.

Are you kidding? I see society seeing adultery not only more acceptable for husbands, but at the same time acceptable to blame the wife for his adultry (she's fridgid, she's fat/unattractive, she always b!tches, etc)
I see society not tolerating one indescetion of a wife. "She wears low cut tops, she's a whore!" Or even a little flirting society deems her not worth her salt! Let alone a full out affair makes her completely worthless to every eye to sees her.
No dear, women are under much more scrutiny.

It isn't acceptable for either to commit adultery, as it will ruin any marriage. So not a good idea for any one!

No. Neither is acceptable.
If you're in a relationship, then you're in a relationship. If it's going that badly wrong that an affair is started then the relationship should be ended first before embarking on the next.
In my opinion, monogamy in the only way forward in a true relationship.

NO! It's not acceptable for either spouse to stray, neither morally nor socially. People might EXPECT a man to be weaker in the face of temptation, but I wouldn't say that it's TOLERATED by the community or family at large.

It depends on who you ask, of course. Generally speaking, if the two of them made a vow to "forsake all others" then it is not acceptable for either one to have an affair. Statistically men have affairs more than women, but for that to be true, it would either mean women lie more or the ones who do have affairs have multiple affairs.
