My ex left the property 4 years ago and has never paid a penny towards the mortgage. He wants half of his share. can i sue him for his half of the morgage in the past four years he has not paid. can i have answer from the uk as the law is different in other parts.

You can indeed sue him, but not for all of his half. You can obtain his half, minus what was his net earnings up to the point of the divorce. In other words, if he had already earned 10,000 pounds when the two of you separated, that money is still his. You can't obtain that. But if his 'half' gained another 4,000 pounds after the separation, you can obtain that because he abandoned the property to you.

I don't know if it's always the same but my cousin and his wife split up about 12 years ago, 2 years ago his ex tried to claim for half of the house. She was awarded half of the value of the house at the time she left - which was about a tenth of its current value.

Sit on it ,but get a lawyer , and if you ever want to sell the place , you'll have some backing as to his not paying on it .

He either had the right to give you the house or take it.........since there was no aggreement, he should of at least helped you out......SUE HIM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
